Storage architecture decision
Evaluate localStorage vs cloud storage tradeoffs. A decision document that shapes how the app handles data — especially photos and images. Local-only support is a goal.
AI labeling on recipe suggestions
Show a clear "AI-generated" indicator on recipe suggestions so you know they come from Gemini, not a human chef.
Voice data flow disclosure
When you use voice dictation, we'll clearly explain that your audio is sent to OpenAI Whisper for transcription and not stored.
Confirm before generating recipes
Add a "Get recipe ideas" button instead of automatically generating recipes when you open the page. You control when AI runs.
AI transparency page
A dedicated page explaining exactly how Bunny Biscuits uses AI: Whisper for voice-to-text, Gemini for recipes, and what's planned next. Part of learning about AI by building with it.
Snap a photo to add items
Take a photo of your fridge shelf or pantry. AI identifies the food items, you confirm, and they're added to your inventory. The signature feature.

Item images from photos
Crop individual items from your shelf photo for visual identification. Helps with quantity and type recognition.
Name your shelves and drawers
During photo onboarding, name your locations ("top shelf", "crisper drawer", "spice rack") instead of using defaults.
Proactive leftover reminders
Get nudged to use leftovers before they go bad. Items older than a few days get surfaced with a "use soon" reminder.
Quick "I'm out" gesture
A faster way to mark items as gone — swipe to remove or a dedicated "out" button, instead of cycling through quantity levels.
Smart kitchen summary
An AI-generated overview of your kitchen: "You have basics for pasta or stir-fry. Running low on protein. Leftover pasta from Tuesday — eat soon."
Stylized item rendering
Convert your photographic inventory images into styled illustrations. Take a photo of milk, choose a style, and see a more aesthetic version in your inventory.
Kitchen inventory
Browse your kitchen items by location (fridge, freezer, pantry, shelf) and category. Tap to update quantity.
Bulk item entry with voice
Add items by typing a list or dictating via voice. AI categorizes and assigns locations automatically.
Recipe suggestions from inventory
Get recipe ideas based on what you have. Three modes: use what I have, almost there (+1-2 ingredients), or use leftovers.
